Midnight Care Collective

Midnight Care Collective is a community container led by Black Transformative Justice Practitioners in Detroit, Michigan.

Midnight Care Collective is a new project that was formed in July 2022.

Midnight Care Collective is a collectively operated community space centered around Black Feminist principles. Midnight Care Collective preserves and follows in the footsteps of the legacy of care set by Black Women and Femmes practicing womanism, eco-feminism, and other socio-political stances that support the holistic betterment of Black Femmes, and through this practice, the betterment all people. We support our community through the arts, care work, and music primarily, and fill other needs as our capacity sees fit.

Midnight Care Collective was born out of my interest in care work as a social practice. In my quilt and flag raffles, I found a real viability to connect my practice with communal care- thus the birthing of this project. The collective of practitioners provides a safe and intentional container to experiment with revolutionary acts of care with each other, the local community, and our friends both visiting and our friends in practice in other places. Through a multi-step plan, the collective aims to hold a brick-and-mortar community space, an artist residency, a guest practitioner program, free relaxation and processing spaces, workshops, book clubs, community classes, city-wide collaborations, and more.

Midnight Care Collective will start holding space throughout 2023.
