saylem celeste {they/them} is a Black + Trans Transformative Justice Practitioner born and raised in Waawiyatanong.

saylem celeste creates objects and facilitates containers that communicate the living relationship between the experiences of Queer, Black/Indigenous, Femme identifying folks and ideas of home, healing, and heritage.
A lost generation quilter, local musician, and community practitioner in training, saylem is currently on the path to becoming an intentional, revolutionary, community advocate and cultivator. Their practice utilizes art as a medium to create containers of healing, restoration, and aid to those in need of care.

In order to embedded reparations-based theory into exchanges, I provide all services on a sliding-scale payment method, which means that you pay what you can afford for the object in correlation to your overall level of wellbeing and capital. (Ie. People/entities who can afford their basic needs easier pay at the higher end of the scale, a grassroots organization that services QTBIPOC in need would pay lower on the scale, etc.)
All of my projects done in collaboration with institutions that have historically held power or currently weld power are done with a reparations plan in place, as a condition for working with me.

While buying and trading objects are normally seen solely as monetary transactions, I also ask that you read my ethical conditions for exchanges of capital page to understand the emotional, social, and spiritual conditions that I also attach to exchanges of items that I create. I use one to combat the co-oping of my heritage and to protect my creations from capitalist exploitation.
